Briefly: Venstar Wi-Fi thermostat, $50 off Xbox, Peel update

Venstar has outed its Skyport Wi-Fi key for the ColorTouch thermostat. The key connects the thermostat to Skyport Cloud Services, run by the company, allowing users to monitor and adjust the thermostat from a phone or tablet. The key is a $100 upgrade to the $300 thermostat, with iOS, Android, and Blackberry apps free to download.

Online Microsoft Store cuts Xbox 360 bundles by $50

The online version of the Microsoft store has started a sale, taking $50 off the price of Xbox 360 packages. The 250GB console drops to $250, the 250GB Kinect Holiday Bundle reaches $350, and the Kinect Star Wars bundle hits $400. Several games have been put on sale, including recent release Mass Effect 3. No details as to if the sale will apply to the physical Microsoft stores, or as to when it will end. [via CNET]


TV app Peel goes social in Android update

Personal TV show guide app Peel has updated its Android app (Free, Google Play). Aside from speed improvements, the app now has an added social element. Logging in with a Facebook account, the app will display recommendations from others in an activity feed, along with notes from fellow viewers of specific shows.
